Actually I really can't
remember when I felt the need to let music come into my life, but I
remember my first band: we played covers of the famous italian band
CCCP and I think I was probably 15. I remember the students
movement, the new generation social centres, the hardcore, the punk,
the psychedelic music and the blues; in the end I remember the way
these things were a part of my life until in2001 I stepped in the
beautiful world of reggae music.
I began this journey with the Rastaker Roots Family; a great
strength let us make 22 concerts in only one year, and some of those
concerts made possible for us to get third classified at the
selections for the Arezzo Wave Festival and second classified
at the Sonica Music Festival, on the same stage with
Robert Plant. 2001 was also the bad year in which the Sikula
Reggae Festival was evacuated and partially cancelled.
The great delusion, which had many bad influences on the dissolution
of the band, was also the source for new experiences: The guys
founded the Macka Splaff Sound winning the Sicily Clash in
2006, and I started playing with many sounds of the island with the
name of Daddy King until the foundation of the Trinakrių,
with Zų Luciano, Ras Pepy, Panų and Ganjalova. In
August 2006 I presented my first solo album with 13 brand new
instrumentals by KdP (Klaudio Kiddano, Lorrč and Tunaman),
produced by FidoGuido for Zuingo Comunication from
Taranto. This album has actually been sold in 1500 copies around all
Italy, 13 tunes from dancehall to real pure reggae, a trip on the
mind of a man from Sicily forced to deal with too many problems,
first of all with mafia, originating unemployment, poverty,
ignorance, matters of bad policy and drugs; this album gives voice
to the people of this island which has been wasted and trampled down
too many times, a thought for the new generations to let these
efforts not be made in vain. Today, as I played on most clubs of
Italy (from Pergola in Milan to the Renoir in Bari), I
am now working on some productions for SegnaleDigitale & Warsound,
and on other two albums with NINO Kayaman (elektrodancehall)
and Nuklearte (world music). I'm also preparing the new solo
album, always for Zuingo Comunication from Taranto; i'm out
now with the 7" single "Ruci camina" produced by Jahmekya on
the Yard d'Italia riddim and with the WAR SIGNALS Vol.1 mixed
cd including his two tracks "Non ti credere" and "Siente
sti picciotti". |
