MILANO.
ITALIA. FEBRUARY 2007.
BDZK Dancehall Shots is a demo cd containing two classical live dj sets produced by
Badzooka during two different dancehall nights @ Bomboclat Pergola, the well-known "smoking yard" of Milan.
Badzooka was founded in 2005 as a result of the encounter between the selecta,
Wario, from Milan, and the dj/singer from Lecce, Pupiddhru, both coming up from personal musical experiences and collaborations with other crew in Milan and Lecce.
The musical path the crew goes through is constantly evolving and its main guideline is to promote total aspects of reggae music, in order to let the approach be even more conscious about the culture that originated it, his essential messages and traditions; that's why
Badzooka does not like that frequently applied pointless censorship, trying better to promote the wish to re-interpretate this reality and contestualize it within our culture.
The musical selections of
Badzooka range from the roots reggae music, through rub a dub and raggamuffin, to his latest evolutions in new roots and bashment dancehall, trying also to make these genres come closer to other musical languages and to promote only high level musical productions.
In 2006 the speaker of the crew
Pupiddhru won the 1st edition of the Italian Reggae Mc Contest produced and organized in Milan by
I-tal Sound and followed the veteran Dj War through most of all the summer dancehalls in Salento, which also saw the performance of both
Wario and Pupiddhru long side Dj War.
During its activity the crew had the chance to play by the side of some significant sounds of the italian reggae movement just like I-tal Sound, Kalibandulu, General Palma, Bleizone and also
Bushkillah, I-Shence and Full Squad in the well-known
Pergola yard of Milan. |
