First heard in Bologna in the early 90s, later in southern Italy, and always getting stronger, the influence of the work and attitude of Sud Sound System, first all-time Italian group to join home-bred vocal tradition to Caribbean musical influence, is thanks to the first coming out of Italian independent records and to the historic "danzhall" on the beaches and farmhouses of Salento. The Salento sound system soon becomes a fundamental example for the Italian reggae movement, and also makes its influence known in other fields of the native musical underground of those years both in Italy and in non Italian countries. Becoming evident is the appeal, interest and consistent nearing of Segnale Digitale to the Salento scene and the dj and singers who light up the spirit and evenings, while the activity of independent audio and video production with the first shorts and self produced documentaries in Italy and Canada, documented in the video section of this site, continue and develop.
